Iakovos Potamianos – History of Architecture of the 20th century
This book presents the various tendencies and movements that took place in the 20th century in Western Europe. On the one hand, technical and technological issues are discussed related to the evolution in the area of construction and on the other, issues of art, design, and form-making in relation to the theories and philosophies on which they have been based. From these analyses, the relation to the social and political concerns that functioned as triggers for important decision making both in the form-giving process of single buildings as well as of the planning and the formation of the city fabric becomes evident. The presentations and the analyses are supported by a large number of images, since for an architect the linking of abstract ideas to concrete form is essential.
